Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Gangtok (1600 mtrs.)

Upon arrival in Bagdora airport, our guide will receive you and transfer to hotel in Gangtok. The drive will takes about 4.5 hrs for the distance 124 km with scenic journeythrough the picturesque valleys, tea plantations & lush forests to the bustling town Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Or, if you are traveling though Nepal, you can fly to Bhadrapur and enter through Kakarvitta border and drive to Gangtok. Our representative will receive you from Bhadrapur airport transfer to Gangtok. The drive journey will last for 5 hours from airport to Gangtok. Today you will have rest day with short tour briefing through our guide in hotel. Overnight Hotel.
Today we begin our tour activities after breakfast. You will have excursion trip to Tsomgo Lake (55 km / 2.5 hrs), located in the east of Gangtok at an elevation of 3650m. This is typically beautiful mountain lake. You will enjoy the scenic journey towards lake that offers a magnificent view of Mt. Kanchendzonga and other peaks of Sikkim Himalayas. Explore few hours in lake and back to hotel. In the afternoon, you are free to explore the markets for shopping. Overnight Hotel.
You will have breakfast in the hotel. Then our guide will commence your sightseeing program making your visit to Borong village, starting through Directorate of Handicraft and Handloom monument, a centre that offers you the opportunity to observe the local artisians at work and their skill being imparted to young boys and girls. If you are interested to have souvenirs gift to your family or friends, you can buy from the institute’s salesroom where you can see well stocked with local handicrafts and handloom products. Then your sightseeing goes to Do-Drul Chorten, one of the most important stupa of Sikkim build by the late Venerable Trulsi Rimpoche in 1945-46, it contains a manadala of Dorji-Phurba, holy texts, mantras and is encircled by 108 prayer wheels. Visit Namgyal Institue of Tibetology on your next monuments. This institute, located close to the Chorten, is a repository of the largest collection of Tibetan artifacts outside Tibet as well as it is renowned worldwide for the study of Buddhist philosophy and religion. It is a treasure house of rare Thankas, Buddhist icon and objects of art. As we are continues our driving to Borong, we will also visit Rumtek monastery on the way. It is the seat of the Karmapa, the head of the Kagyupa sect and also the headquarter of the Dharma Chakra Centre. This monastery is constructed as a replica of the Tsurphu Monastery in Tibet. Borong is a small village tucked away in a corner of South Sikkim with diverse communities inhabited where you can experience typical authentic Sikkimese culture. It stands at an 1800 m above sea level with exploring beautiful landscapes of the mountain ranges including Mt. Rathong, Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabrue and Mt. Sinolchu. You can also see beautful landscape with dotted homesteads, fields, cardamom plantations which stretches from the higher land to Rangeet valley. Here you will go for a day hike to gufa and lower Borong area of the village. Also we visit to the Handmade Paper Unit, a community based unit making traditional paper from the bark of the Argyali plant. The excursion trip will offers an interesting insight into the diverse culture of the local community and will have experience of the rich natural heritage of the area. Also, you will serve lunch in a local house that offers a unique opportunity to see local lifestyle at close quarters. Overnight at Resort.
Today is the final day of your trip. After breakfast, we will drive to Kalimpong visiting different majestic monuments on the way. You will visit Ralang monastery enroute, the also known as Palchen Choeling Monastic Institute, was one of the biggest monastery in Sikkim with masterpiece architecture and paintings that retains the authenticity of the Kagyupa monasteries from Tibet. And reaching at Rabong, you have sightseeing visit of Tathagata Tsal. This Tathagata Tsal is recently built comlex has a 130 feet tall statue of Sakyamuni Buddha and a well landscaped park, also called as Buddha Park of Ravangla with ample walkway, garden & space to enjoy surrounding serene. Also, you will visit Samdruptse on the way, the site of the 113 feet tall statue of Guru Padmasambhava or Guru Rimpoche, the patron saint of Sikkim and the Buddhist scholar who restored the Buddhism in Tibet in the 7th century AD. The location also offers a breathtaking view of Sikkim Himalayas and Darjeeling hills. Then our next visit to Siddheswari Dhaam or Chaar Dhaam, a popular pilgrimage & cultural centre of Hindus where a huge project has been recently completed consisting the replicas of the four most important Hindu temples of India. This unique pilgrim spot has a giant statue of Lord Shiva (108 feet high) at the highest commanding point of Solophok Hills, including 12 Jyotirlingas, Sai Baba temple, Chaardham, Kirateshwor statue. Kalimpong was an important trading town, until the late 1950s, with a flourishing trade with Tibet. The 11th Mile market still deals in Buddhist and Himalayan artifacts and goods which are now exported to various Himalayan regions from Ladakh to Nepal. After check in the hotel explore the markets in the evening. Overnight Hotel
After breakfast, departure transfer to Bagdogra airport or Bhadrapur as per your exit destination.
